Tips for skirting disruptions from Pope's visit

Residents around the United Nations are veterans at dealing with street closures and heavy security. Here are some of their tips for dealing with the weekend pope visit:

- Leave. Go out of the city if you can.

- If you're forced to stay local, don't leave the house during the time the pope is visiting your neighborhood.

- Put off errands and deliveries.

- Do not make unnecessary appointments or visits in areas where the pope will be.

- Go to work extra early if you live or work in an area affected by the pope visit to deal with bus reroutes and street closures. Stay late to avoid the same aggravations.

- Prepare to be patient, as you may be asked to walk blocks out of your way.

-Plan ahead and allow extra time for traveling around town. Think of alternate routes if unexpected street closures occur.
