Charges are still pending against a 20-year-old man in Brooklyn accused of shooting and critically injuring a McDonald’s worker during an argument over a food order on Monday night.
The employee, a 23-year-old male, remains hospitalized in critical condition after being shot in the neck.
Police said the trouble began inside the McDonald’s restaurant at 1531 Fulton St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant just after 7 p.m. on Aug. 1, when the suspect’s mother engaged staff in a verbal dispute over her food.
According to law enforcement sources, the mother informed the suspect, her 20-year-old son, about the beef, and he intervened, getting into an argument with the employee.
Eventually, the dispute spilled out onto the street, where the perpetrator pulled out a gun and shot the worker in the neck, cops said.
Officers from the 79th Precinct responded to the shooting. EMS rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
The victim’s blood covered the sidewalk where he was shot as officers and detectives investigated the crime scene on Monday evening.
Police apprehended the 20-year-old male suspect a short time later. He was brought to the 79th Precinct stationhouse for further questioning.
As of Tuesday morning, no criminal charges have yet been filed.
