The FDNY is investigating a fire that claimed a woman’s life in Brooklyn on Friday morning.
At around 8 a.m. on Feb. 21, firefighters responded to a call at 1528 Bedford Ave. in Crown Heights. Fire personnel arrived to find the fire in a third-floor apartment at the scene.
Firefighters searched the apartment and found a woman in her 80s among the heavy clutter. The victim was pronounced dead. A burned-out mattress frame was lying on the sidewalk out front. Members also found that a fourth-floor apartment had been damaged as a result of the fire.
Around 65 firefighters used a hose line to knock down the main body of the fire, which was placed under control at 8:45 a.m. The cause of the fire in under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshals.
