Gwyneth Paltrow’s attorney made an odd request during day three of her civil trial in Park City, Utah, according to JustJared.com. The Tribeca resident and founder of Goop is in the midst of a lawsuit with Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, who is suing the actress over breaking four ribs after they collided on the slopes in 2016 at a ski resort in Utah.
On March 23, while court was in session, the judge denied Paltrow’s attorney, Steve Owens’ request to provide “treats” for the bailiffs because they had been very helpful. The request was turned down after Sanderson’s legal team objected to Paltrow’s generosity. On March 24, Paltrow, who claims he ran into her, testified that the collision was not her fault, and that Sanderson ran into her from the rear with his two skis, reports Newsday. In fact, she said in the beginning, she thought she had been violated. Paltrow told the courts, “There was a body pressing against me and a very strange grunting noise. My brain was trying to make sense of what was happening.”……
“Smash” is setting its sights on Broadway with an award-winning creative team, it was announced on March 22 by Steven Spielberg, Robert Greenblatt and Neil Meron who will serve as lead producers. The stage musical adaptation, inspired by the fan-favorite NBC series in which all three men worked together, is slated for Broadway’s 2024-25 season. In a statement obtained by Big Apple Buzz, Spielberg, whose original idea led to the NBC series, said, “Smash is near and dear to my heart, and it was always my hope that a musical inspired by the show would eventually come to the stage. We now have an incredible creative team, and I’m looking forward to completing the Smash journey which began with my producing partners over ten years ago.” The production will be helmed by 5-time Tony-winning director Susan Stroman, with a score by the Tony and Grammy-winning duo Marc Shainan and Scott Wittman, who wrote over two dozen songs for the television show. The book will be co-written by Tony-winner Bob Martin and Rick Elice……
Dressed as her character Harley Quinn, Lady Gaga filmed a scene for the upcoming movie “Joker: Folie a’ Deux,” on the steps of the New York County Supreme Court in downtown Manhattan on March 25. Gaga’s character is The Joker’s girlfriend. The nemesis of Batman will once again be portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix. Actors playing protestors and fans, carried signs that read “Free Joker” and “Joker, marry me! XXXO,” reports Elle Magazine……
“Joker: Folie a’ Deux” wasn’t the only filming happening around Manhattan. The Hulu hit series “Only Murders in the Building, ” returned to the scene of the crime, when it recently changed the popular Upper East Side York Avenue’s Mansion Diner into the fictitious Pickle Diner where a scene for the series’ third season was shot with Steve Martin having a bite to eat in the restaurant, reports Upper East Site. On March 21, Martin was spotted filming alongside his co-stars Martin Short and Selena Gomez, in which the actress was wearing a wedding dress and veil. Working on her show hasn’t been all Gomez has been up to. According to E! News, she had dinner at a Big Apple eatery with One Direction’s Zayn Malik, where the possibly hot new couple walked in holding hands…..
Leonardo Di Caprio was spotted hanging out with friends in the Big Apple in downtown Manhattan on March 26, reports the Daily Mail. The group took advantage of the warm weather as they strolled around. According to reports, DiCaprio is slated to begin promotion soon for his latest flick, Killers of The Flower Moon, where the actor is once again working with filmmaker Martin Scorcese. The movie is set to be released in May. Aside from DiCaprio, the film stars Robert DeNiro, who plays William Hale, the uncle of DiCaprio’s character Ernest Burkhart…….
