Brooklyn’s own Miss Cherry Delight is dropping a new single and music video ahead of her first tour.

“Glow in the Dark” explores the idea that spirits don’t have to be something to necessarily be feared.

“This is a song about a paranormal sexual encounter. As a preteen, I read an article about celebrities who had this experience and I never forgot that,” said Delight. “I really loved the concept of maybe you don’t have to be afraid of the things that are in the dark. Maybe you can have fun with the things in the dark.”

Delight knew that the song was meant to be a duet, so she partnered up with Dusty Gannon of Vision Video to help bring the song to life.

“Cherry asked me to do guest vocals on this song back in 2021 and I was immediately interested because she is a good friend but also a phenomenally talented singer-songwriter,” said Gannon.

“We both are singers who have a lot of expressiveness in our voices, so I think that doing a song that was both passionate and fun was the way to go,” said Delight. “I’m someone who believes that a duet doesn’t just have to be two people singing to each other. I think there’s an opportunity for a plot.”

“Glow in the Dark” was recorded back in 2021. Though the song was completed awhile ago, Delight felt that it needed to have a music video to accompany the release. Directed by Dylan Mars Greenberg, the music video for “Glow in the Dark” shows a woman celebrating her birthday with friends when a paranormal encounter with a spirit, played by Gannon, takes place.

The video takes place in a private house with gothic decor and bright visuals to accompany the tone of the song, as well as practical effects.

“When making the video we were inspired by Hammer Horror and Roger Corman’s Poe films like Masque of the Red Death. We wanted to make something really cinematic, with a story and vibrant visuals,” said Greenberg.

“It came out exactly as I dreamed because Dylan Mars Greenberg understands my vision like no one I’ve ever met. It’s almost like she can finish my sentences with what I want,” said Delight. “I wanted a real romantic hammer, horror, ‘Fearless Vampire Killers’ feel for this. And I get to play the ingénue, I never get to do that.”

Though Gannon is based in Georgia, he wasn’t left out of the shoot. He actually shot all of his parts in the video over Zoom.

“It was an interesting video to shoot, because I had to do all my parts remotely in front of a green screen as I live in Georgia and was unable to be in NYC for the filming. Cherry and Dylan directed me over a Zoom call, but I think it turned out incredibly well considering such a limitation,” said Gannon.

“We directed him while he recorded himself with his camera. We also did a 3D scan of his body to make him able to enter and exit through walls and mirrors,” said Delight. “Something that’s really cool that we did in this video is we did a practical effect for Dusty because he is a ghost in the video. The practical effect is called a Pepper’s ghost, it is essentially a real-life practical effect hologram that we used to make Dusty’s face appear in the crystal ball in the video.”

The music video also stars Mia the MVP, “Princess Danielle” Smith, Dori Schmidt, Herbie Hoover Weldon III, Johnny Molina, and John Wlaysewski (of the band Late Cambrian).

“[The actors] were perfect. They couldn’t have been more perfect,” said Delight.

Both Delight and Gannon are excited for the world to see the work that has gone into the song and video.

“I’m so excited to see it finally out. It’s a really great song and it’s always so fulfilling to show everyone what you’ve been working on,” said Gannon. “Art is meant to breathe through experience and it’s satisfying to know it’s finally getting out there.”

“I’ve been waiting so long for people to hear this, I’m so proud of this track. I just think that it came out gorgeous, the way that Justin produced the track is flawless. I’m just so proud and so happy,” said Delight. “I have a lot of faith that this song is going to be something that people really, really are excited about and love.”
