With millions of streams on Apple Music and Spotify, Chicocurlyhead, “el pana con flow,” is leaving his mark in the music world.

Chico’s music style has solidified him as an Indie Alt-Pop artist. His newly released EP Neverending Roadtrip, his most proud creation, blends sounds of R&B, alt-pop and hip hop with Latin soul, all while the lyrics smoothly interchange between English and Spanish.

His distinctive sound is also set apart by his desire to not include curse words in his songs.

“I felt like we never needed to curse in our music to make our point across,” said Chico.

What originated as an accident when he was only 17 years old has quickly turned into a passion for Chico. It was a regular weekend for Chico, hanging out with his friends and “seeing other people that already make music, make music.” At the time, he wasn’t really interested in making music but when he was asked if he wanted to make a song, he jumped at the chance. So he created a SoundCloud account and by the next day Chico’s first song had already amassed thousands of streams.

“Once I made my first song that day, I said, ‘why not, let’s upload this right now,’” Chico said.

Chico is constantly inspired by artists like Post Malone and SAINt JHN. He is attracted to Post Malone’s honesty and emotion, which he transmits through his music. He also feels the most inspired by his family, friends and life itself.

While this is only the beginning for Chico, one of the main turning points in his career has been becoming a father while finding his place in the music world.

This July has been a specially busy month for Chico as he had his TV debut on Good Day New York. He also appeared on New York Public Radio’s WNYC and performed at DROM’s Latin Alternative Music Conference in the East Village where he received the LAMC 2024 Discovery Award, joining past recipients like Nathy Peluso, Carla Morrison, Ile, Jesse Baez, Buscabulla and A. Chal.

“I had a great time, honestly I would say an amazing way to debut in New York,” he said.

Chico is excited for the journey ahead. Before the year ends, he hopes to release two more songs. As for the future, he hopes to one day win a Grammy and a Latin Grammy, be “number one on Billboard, that’s a must,” go on tour and most importantly keep connecting with his fans.

Music has positively altered Chico’s life and he wants to give back by creating songs that also deliver positive messages to the world and most importantly, he believes in making music that can be enjoyed by all.

“Letting music be for everybody and not just for a certain group of people all the time,” he said.

One of the biggest rewards for Chico is having people enjoy and be inspired by his music, which represents who he is as a person, what he likes and most importantly, where he comes from.

“I like to say what you see is what you get and I think that’s the case with me,” said Chico. “And I think that’s also the case with my EP that just came out, Neverending Roadtrip, it just displays who I am, what I am and what I like in my music,” he added.
