The city’s rats are eating well!
One of New York’s most-hated rodents has gone viral on social media, when a local straphanger captured video of a rat dragging a doughnut through the subway, before sharing the glazed gem with a squealer friend.
A TikTok user posted the comical video on Wednesday, showing the rat pulling the doughy treat along the lower Manhattan subway tracks, before arriving near a rodent compatriot — leading the two vermin to chow down on the desert.

Commenters on the video applauded the rat’s selflessness, calling it a “high value man” and a “provider.”
“The NY rats have a better love life than I do,” joked one user.
The video, which has amassed over 2.3 million views, drew comparisons to the infamous “Pizza Rat” — a rodent that went viral for pulling a slice of pizza down the steps to an L train station in Manhattan.
While rats performing near-Herculean efforts in service to their appetites can draw fawning attention on social media, most New Yorkers hate the far-too-common site of rodents — particularly Mayor Eric Adams, who appointed the city’s first-ever citywide ‘rat czar’ earlier this year to combat vermin across the five boroughs.
“New York City has done a lot recently when it comes to fighting public enemy number one: rats,” Hizzoner said at the time. “But it was clear we needed someone solely focused on leading our rat reduction efforts across all five boroughs.”
