New York City history is on the auction block.
If you take a peek inside the city’s auction houses’ catalogs, you may be surprised to find some incredible items, like at Guernsey’s, where more than 50 original doors from The Chelsea Hotel are going up for sale.
That might not seem exciting at first, but these doors are said to have been used by celebrity residents like Andy Warhol, Jim Morrison, Leonard Cohen and Madonna, according to the company.
The doors, which were salvaged during the hotel’s refurbishment, are just one of several intriguing historical items up for grabs this spring at Guernsey’s.
Here’s more on what’s being auctioned off and how you can see them up close.
