NYC bars hosting Democratic presidential debate parties

New Yorkers gather in front of the TV screen
New Yorkers gather in front of the TV screen at RPM Underground, where a caucus-style Democratic presidential debate watch party takes place.

The Democratic presidential debates continue Wednesday night with 10 hopefuls taking the stage in Atlanta.

For the fifth round of debates, moderated by MSNBC and The Washington Post, 10 candidates qualified to take part (they had to get at least 3 percent in four approved polls or 5 percent in two early-state polls and bring in donations from at least 165,000 unique donors).

Former Vice President Joe Biden, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, California Sen. Kamala Harris, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, billionaire Tom Steyer and entrepreneur Andrew Yang will all take the stage.

Bars across the city are again hosting viewing parties, so let the drinking games and commentary commence. Below are some of our best bets.

Special menu items will include the “Bernie Burger” with Vermont cheddar, “Mayor Pete’s Jerky Treats,” “Liz’s Fish n’ Chips,” “Chicken Wings Caucus Style,” “Bill de Buffalo wings” and more.
