If you’ve been planning to make your apartment resemble an indoor jungle, you’ll have to wait.
The Jungle Collective’s huge indoor plant sale, which had been slated to come to the city in mid-August, is now postponed to next spring.
The exact date and location had not been finalized when the company made its NYC announcement earlier this year, but according to a statement on its Facebook page, it was unable to secure a venue.
“Unfortunately due to some unforeseen bureaucratic obstacles, the world’s biggest pop-up plant sale will have to be postponed,” the statement says. “So while the delay is a bummer, we promise it will allow us to come back even bigger and better.”
The Jungle team aims to relaunch in April or May of 2019.
The popular sale, which has a following in Australia, brings more than 200 species (succulents, air-purifying house plants, designer pots and more) to one location for a lush, party-like atmosphere. There are usually “jungle tunes” played while you pick out a ficus.
Shoppers are brought in two-hour time slots so that it doesn’t become crazed like an Ikea on a Saturday, and help is offered from actual horticulturists so that you know how to take care of your plant children correctly.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, they’ve been popular amongst the hipster community in Sydney, according to news.com.au.
