Time to lace up your skates and hit the ice! Wollman Rink is opening ahead of the winter season.

Starting Oct. 26, the iconic Central Park rink will open to the public with a celebration of the opening season all weekend long. To officially kick off the season, the rink will offer free admission, complimentary lessons, live performances and fall-themed festivities on Oct. 26-27.

Free tickets to the opening weekend can be reserved starting on Oct. 19. Skating for both days of the weekend celebration will start at 12 p.m. with a live performance from artistic figure skaters. On Oct. 26, those who arrive in costume can enter a raffle to win family season skating passes.

“We are thrilled to welcome skaters back to Wollman Rink with an exciting two-day celebration,” said Bret Pidgeon, General Manager of Wollman Rink. “To provide an even more magical winter experience, Wollman Rink is introducing upgraded igloos and expanded skate school offerings this season, ensuring that everyone from first-time visitors to seasoned skaters can enjoy the beauty of Central Park in the winter.”

“Each year, the return of Wollman Rink’s ice season marks the start of wintertime recreation in New York City,” said NYC Department of Parks & Recreation Commissioner Sue Donoghue. “The rink will offer free and discounted tickets to New Yorkers through Culture Pass and IDNYC, ensuring that this favorite wintertime activity remains increasingly accessible to all New Yorkers.”

Like previous years, visitors can choose between two dining options onsite: The Café, located in The Clubhouse, and Melba’s in the Park, located in The Overlook area. The Igloo Village will also be making its return with upgraded and elevated spaces that can be reserved during skating hours. The igloos will feature cozy interiors, heaters and signature catering options.

Registration is now open for Wollman Rink’s Skate School, which offers lessons for all ages and skill levels. Lessons are available multiple days a week for both the Skate School and the Youth Hockey Program.

General admission tickets range from $15 to $38 for adults and are $10 for children and seniors throughout the season. Skate rentals are $12 and access to a non-skating adult chaperone is free with purchase of a child ticket. Season passes will be available for $275 for adults and $100 for seniors and children and can be purchased at the box office starting on opening day.

Wollman Park Partners are continuing to expand the Wollman Rink Access Program, allowing those who may not be able to afford to visit access to the rink. Adjust pricing will be available through Culture Pass (online) and ID NYC (box office).
