The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is coming to the Big Apple.
“Harry Potter: The Exhibition” is bringing the Wizarding World to New York City this year. The record-breaking exhibition celebrates all things Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and the Cursed Child by taking visitors on a journey through the Wizarding World.
The exhibition is created and developed by Imagine Exhibitions in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment and EMC Presents. It debuted at Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute in 2022 and has welcomed over 750,000 visitors. Since then, the exhibition has moved to locations in Atlanta and Vienna.
This year, the exhibition is expanding to Paris’ Paris Expo Porte de Versailles on April 21 and New York City at a to-be-announced location and date.
“‘Harry Potter: The Exhibition’ belongs in the greatest city in the world,” said President and CEO of Imagine Exhibitions Tom Zaller. “This exhibition celebrates the Wizarding World like no other touring experience so where better to host it than New York City. We can’t wait to share it with the millions of visitors that come from around the world, as well as the fans and families across the New York metropolitan area.”
Visitors can expect to be immersed in the settings, iconic moments, costumes, props, characters and creatures from the Wizarding World, including sets, props and costumes from the Broadway production “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”
Some gallery highlights include Hogwarts Castle Gallery, which will include Dementors, The Whomping Willow and Marauder’s Map; From Page to Screen Gallery, which features a first edition of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”; The Great Hall Gallery, which showcases the World’s iconic architecture; Hogwarts Houses, which features the iconic Sorting Hat; Hogwarts Classrooms, which includes props and costumes; and Hagrid’s Hut and The Forbidden Forest, which includes the World’s famous creatures and a recreation of Hagrid’s Hut.
Many galleries offer personalized experiences, so guests can feel like they are enrolled in the magical school by becoming acquainted with the Hogwarts House of their choosing, seeing their name appear on Marauder’s Map, brewing potions, fighting against the dark arts and more.
RFID wristband technology will capture and link visitors’ interactions to their visitor profiles as they journey through the galleries.
Before leaving the magical world, guests can take home a souvenir from the onsite retail shop, including merchandise not offered at any other Wizarding World experience.
