The Finest Brownstone Restoration

Vincent and his team have done a magnificent job rebuilding and restoring the wood, finish and antique hardware on the front doors to our 125 year old brownstone in Park Slope, Brooklyn. My wife and I were delighted to the care and patience shown to us and our woodwork. Most recently, Vincent replicated, finished and installed a pair of pocket shutters for our parlor floor that were missing for the past 30 years of our ownership. He did a masterful job making whats new look like it was original. I recommend Vincent without reservation. He is such a gentleman and a pleasure to work with. A craftsman in every sense of the word. Vincent Battiloro and his crew from “The Finest Brownstone Wood Restoration” just restored the entire wooden core of our four story Coop apartment building in Park Slope. The work included stripping, sanding, staining, and refinishing of every single piece of woodwork of our wooden building staircase with threads risers, stringers, banisters, handrails and newel posts five flights up to the roof. They also restored Vestibule and Entry Hall with fluted banisters intricate moulding details on capital and cornice, door panels etc. Some of the work required resetting and replacing of original trim and ornaments which added another level of complexity to the job. After the well predicted 3 weeks of hard and dedicated work on every painted wooden surface of this project they had turned this staircase back into the crafted piece of beauty it was when erected more than 100 years ago. Mr. Battiloro truly is a master craftsman and extremely pleasant to work with. He was very professional and cooperative in the process which included series of sample stains for review and the use of more environmentally friendly paint stripper as per request. Together with his well trained long term assistants he forms a team fully dedicated to uncover every inch of beauty that any aged or painted millwork can offer. Where ever necessary on this job they went the extra mile to finish the job to perfection, all within the originally negotiated (and very competitive) price and within the project timeframe. I feel fortunate to have had “The Finest Brownstone Wood Restauration” on board for our Coop building makeover. Home now starts at building entry door.

I hired Vincent to strip years of paint and refinish all woodwork of a 4-story 1880s brownstone. The house had all the original details, but there was no exposed wood – all mantels, doors, staircases, wainscoting, ramps, shutters had to be done. Vincent is a true professional. His dedication, commitment to quality & timeline, knowledge of the wood grain & texture, and passion for his work was contagious. Simply said, the results far exceeded my expectations. I thank God the previous owners never knew Vincent, as I’d still be looking for a home.

We selected Vincent Battiloro to refurbish the four entry doors at Park Avenue United Methodist Church. They are massive 100 year old oak doors with leaded glass windows, detailed brass fittings and decorative brass nail-head design. When we selected Vincent, it was based in large part on his sensitivity to our particular needs. He not only understood the technical challenges he understood that the building would be in continuous use throughout the project and that we love these doors very much. The end result proved us right. The doors are truly beautiful, and Vincent was a pleasure to work with throughout. He made sure that we always had access and that the work never interfered with the many activities at our church. We would recommend him for any project. Craftsmen of his caliber are truly a rare find these days.
