New York City’s beloved restaurant, Junior’s, known for its cheesecake, announced that they will be collaborating with Literie Candle to create a scent that will allow buyers to indulge in the sweet smell of their cakes without tasting them. The new candle is named “A Slice of Strawberry Cheesecake.”
70 years ago the phrase “You haven’t really lived until you’ve had cheesecake at Junior’s” was started, and the phrase still holds up to this day. Junior’s has been known for its amazing service, atmosphere, food and especially the cheesecake since it was founded by Harry Rosen in 1950. The Brooklyn flagship is a landmark all New Yorkers know as, “the spot to get a good slice of cheesecake.”
Literie was created by New York native Erica Werber. As the COVID-19 pandemic raged across NYC Werber saw an increased dislike for the city; Literie was made in direct response to those negative allegations. New Yorkers and visitors alike can now take home the immortalized scents of the city’s most iconic moments. Werber said the brand “is my love letter to New York City.” She was inspired by the smell of a hot roasted nut cart to bottle up the city’s joys into moments that can be shared anywhere, with anyone.
Some other New York City-themed scents Literie carries are “Afternoon in Central Park” and “28th Street Flower Market.”
The “a slice of strawberry cheesecake” has stronger notes of vanilla, strawberry and a more gentler note of cream cheese. The candles are selling for $45 each. They are sold in red and white patterned boxes to mimic the strawberry cheesecake they take inspiration from.
You can purchase them on Literie’s website, Junior’s website or in one of three Junior’s locations. The original flagship on DeKalb Ave. and Flatbush Ave. in Brooklyn, 45th and Broadway in Times Square and 49th and 7th in Midtown.
