These desserts are almost too pretty to eat.
LROOM Boutique, an online flower shop, has opened a cafe that serves sweets in the shape of fruit, like lemons and peaches and flowers, including a rose made of mousse. The delicately made desserts are so close to the real thing that it may be hard to destroy their beauty.
LROOM also has some crazier concoctions, such as the “Sweet Fantasy” honey toast made with pink cotton candy and its towering egg waffles with fruit and cream. It’s “Bling Bling Honey Latte” is designed with edible glitter.
The cafe and gift shop at 41 W. 14th St. is the first floral experience shop LROOM has done. Xue Ling, the company’s founder, traveled to different countries to find the right ingredients like lemon from Japan, chocolate from Venezuela, hazelnut from France and made fuchsia espresso in Seattle.
“I studied fashion design at Parsons School of Design,” Ling said in a statement. “The concept of couture making influenced me a lot when I planned this cafe shop.”
She teamed up with pastry chef Carla Di Virgilio to create the desserts. Di Virgilio, originally from Italy, has worked at a Michelin-starred restaurant and at hotels in Paris.
LROOM is open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays; and noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
