We all have our holiday traditions. On Christmas, many members of the tribe chow down on Chinese food.
Another is the Feast of the Seven Fishes, a Catholic Christmas Eve feast.
Many delicious city restaurants are creating it this year, including Michael White’s Osteria Morini (218 Lafayette St., 212-965-8777). The menu will be inspired by the holiday meals enjoyed by the staff’s families (from Staten Island to Israel). Enjoy snail sformato, a hearty monkfish roast, delicately breaded calamari and a whole grilled seabream at this spot.
La Bottega (363 W. 16th St., 212-242-4300) at the Maritime Hotel will be serving pizza vongole and calamari with fregula. Plus, you’ll end with cookies and egg nog — a celebrated tradition for all.
You could also head to the farm-to-table pioneer Franny’s (348 Flatbush Ave., Prospect Heights, 718-230- 0221) for dishes like slow-cooked squid with potatoes and olives and polpette di pesce spada (swordfish meatballs) with raisins and pine nuts.
Or try Roman’s (243 Dekalb Ave., Fort Greene, 718-622- 5300) where you can indulge in spot prawns with orange and olives, fried baccala and more.
And for you tribesmen, perhaps you can save the lo mein for Jan. 1?
