For four consecutive Thursdays in the summer, Union Square will have its own night market starting on July 11.
In partnership with Urbanspace, as part of Union Square Partnership’s annual Summer in the Square series, Union Square Park’s South Plaza will transform into a bustling market of local and unique food vendors from all over the city.
“We are thrilled to bring a new local food event to one of the best community spaces in New York City,” said Eldon Scott, president of Urbanspace and founder of the Union Square Holiday Market.
The market, which will run from noon to 9 p.m., will feature a diverse array of food from Belgian-style fries from Bed Stuy-based Home Frite, to rice bowls served in grilled pineapple halves by TNT Pineapple Bowls, jerk chicken from Treat Yourself Jerk, Mexican tamales and burritos from Chef Barbara Sible’s La Palapa, quality po-boys, mac and cheese and fried oyster from Parish Po’ Boys, banh mi sandwiches, skewers and salads from Mama’s Cupboard, the viral fresh strawberries topped with a variety of rich, flowing chocolates from Chocolate on Tap and many more.
“We’re proud to celebrate our roots as a pop up food market maker, spotlight food entrepreneurs, and create a memorable experience for everyone,” Scott added.
The market will coincide with an entertainment lineup of Summer in the Square, featuring live music, dance performances and movie nights.
“Locals and visitors can grab a bite from the diverse vendor lineup after their pickleball game or before catching an iconic movie in Union Square Park,” said Julie Stein, executive director of the Union Square Partnership.
The following markets will be on July 18, July 25 and August 1, from noon to 9:00 p.m.
“Union Square Night Market continues the tradition of exceptional culinary experiences that have defined Union Square,” said Stein.
