“If you’re going out for a date, you’re getting your hair blown out, you’re getting your nails done… but the first thing someone will notice is if there’s something in your teeth,” Rappaport says.
Lavaan offers 30-minute cleanings ($89), express 30-minute whitening ($295), 60-minute whitening ($395), and 90-minute cleaning and whitening packages ($450), plus Invisalign straightening (prices vary).
Whitening is done is three quick applications, while the patient is left to watch TV or listen to music and relax. Because it’s professional-strength gel, Rappaport says the result they get in an hour takes weeks or months with at-home whitening kits. Discounted packages for regular visitors are available.

“Threading has always been seen as something that’s painful … but it doesn’t have to be like that,” says Umbreen Sheikh, the beauty guru behind it all. Using a precise and almost pain-free technique, organic thread, and high-end skin and makeup products (and throwing in champagne and cookies for good measure), Sheikh proves that to be true.
A brow threading ($19) starts with a quick consultation and ends with a temple massage and application of a mineral-based powder to hide any redness. Makeup applications ($65) and lessons ($250) are done in-store with Sheikh’s own line, and temporary and semi-permanent silk lashes are also available. In-the-know customers can complete the picture with a facial in the “secret” room downstairs, with Isabelle Lancray skin care — a Parisian line exclusively carried in the United States by Wink.

“Here in New York, there are always events, and sometimes a client will come in and give you a picture of a beautiful chignon that’s very smooth … and then you look at their hair and it’s impossible, because their texture is completely different,” says Carrie Chapman, Lasio’s chief educator. “But now we can do the Tropic, wash it out, and achieve beautiful up-dos in the same day.”

It’s no secret that New Yorkers have high standards, especially when it comes to how they spend their precious time.
“People here are always on the go, but they want to look good and feel pampered,” says Dr. Jeffrey Rappaport, who ditched the dentist office in favor of opening an express teeth cleaning and whitening bar in Greenwich Village.
Rappaport is one of many business owners taking the popular blow-out bar model — offering a luxury service with a reduced cost and lesser time investment — and using it to cater to other beauty needs. These four spots are here to make you look and feel your best fast, proving that luxury can be experienced in a New York minute.
