The Runway of Dreams Foundation successfully hosted a groundbreaking evening celebrating the intersection of fashion and disability inclusion at Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Center. Held on March 6, 2025, the event featured an inspiring Adaptive fashion runway show and a panel discussion on the importance of inclusive design in the fashion industry.
The event was spearheaded by Garrison Redd, a member of the Runway of Dreams Associate Board and Mount Sinai spinal cord injury outreach coordinator. Garrison is a dedicated advocate for disability inclusion, a USA Para-Powerlifter, and the founder of Redd’s Denim, a brand specializing in stylish, accessible jeans for individuals with disabilities. Redd has previously modeled in Runway of Dreams events and continues to be a leader in promoting Adaptive fashion.
With an audience of approximately 200 attendees, the evening began with a runway show featuring 15 models from Mount Sinai’s Spinal Cord Injury Rehab Center—all of whom have recently acquired disabilities. These models took the runway to showcase innovative Adaptive clothing that seamlessly blends style with function, demonstrating how fashion can be a powerful tool for confidence and independence.
Following the runway show, the panel discussion explored key topics such as life after diagnosis and the role of Adaptive clothing in daily life, the evolution of the fashion industry to include people with disabilities, how Adaptive apparel fosters confidence and independence, and insights from industry leaders, designers, and advocates.
The Runway of Dreams Foundation is at the forefront of the Adaptive fashion movement, working with industry leaders to drive meaningful change and ensure people with disabilities have access to stylish and functional apparel.
“Fashion is a powerful tool for self-expression and inclusion. Through collaborations like this, we are driving industry-wide change to ensure that people of all abilities have access to clothing that meets their needs without sacrificing style,” said Mindy Scheier, Founder and CEO of Runway of Dreams.
Sponsored by Hollister, Bussani Mobility Team, and Numotion, this program underscores the growing intersection between healthcare, rehabilitation, and Adaptive fashion.
