OK, you can have both, but The Strand’s recently launched Book Hookup box is yet another subscription service you can actually feel good about.
The Book Hookup features three options — fiction first editions ($50), young adult first editions ($30), and art-photography ($40 to $60).
Each box will feature a signed, first edition of a “highly anticipated” new release, plus literary gifts like a magazine or sample chapters of an upcoming novel. Boxes will feature literary partners such as Penguin Random House, Chronicle Books, Quirk Books, The Paris Review, Slice Magazine and more, as well as New York partners like Areaware, Tattly, The Found, and “Matilda the Musical.”
Boxes can be gifted as single boxes or as full-year subscriptions, and subscribers have the option to cancel at any time.
The Strand is the first local bookstore to offer a subscription service. The Book Hookup boxes will ship in June.
