Go back over all the names of the babies you know born in 2014: Chances are there’s a Noah or Emma in there.
Noah and Emma topped the baby names in the U.S. in 2014, according to the Social Security Administration on Friday.
Behind Noah was Lima, Mason, Jacob and William. For girls, Olivia, Sophia, Isabella and Ava rounded out the top five.
Noah topped the list in 2013 as well, but Emma knocked Sophia out for the top slot.
The royal baby’s name, Charlotte, came in at number 10 in the U.S. Chelsea Clinton’s daughter, born in September 2014, is also named Charlotte.
Things weren’t always coming up all Noah and Emma. The top baby names for the 2000s are Jacob for boys and Emily for girls, followed by Michael and Madison. Emma came in third and Noah twentieth.
For some comparison, the top names over from 1914-2014 are James (now ninth most popular for boys) and Mary (now 120th for girls). Mary was the most popular girls’ name from 1880 until 1961, except for a six-year dip behind Linda from 1947-1952.
