Worst things about Valentine’s Day in NYC

  • It's New York. It's February. It's cold. We're in the part of the year where activities include hibernating and basically nothing else.

So if you planned a romantic night at home, we hope you're ready to pull up an extra chair for your roommate, who will do everything but make himself scarce on Valentine's Day.

Even worse, some of your friends may mark the day by posting a rambling Facebook post about self-love and female empowerment and blah blah blah. Stay off the Internet 'til March, if possible.

Cupid is definitely not a New Yorker.

In fact, if it were up to us, we’d make sure Cupid and Valentine’s Day stay far away from our fine city.

Who needs the overpriced dinners, candy and cards? Our wallets and sanity are still recovering from the holidays.

Here are some of the (many) reasons that Feb. 14 is one of the worst days in NYC.
