Cops are looking for the hateful ne’er-do-well they say scribbled anti-Semitic graffiti on an Upper East Side synagogue.
According to authorities, at around 7 p.m. Saturday night, an unknown individual approached Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun Synagogue at 125 East 85th Street. Police say the suspect then wrote anti-Semitic graffiti with a marker on a display screen attached to the synagogue. The perp then allegedly fled on foot, headed westbound on East 85th Street.
Police describe the suspect as a man with short black hair and a slim build, who is believed to be approximately 25 years old. The suspect — caught on nearby security cameras — was last seen wearing a white tank top, camouflage shorts, and white sneakers.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident.
There were more than 100 hate crimes reported citywide against the Jewish community as of June 27, when the most recent data is available on the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Dashboard.
