A 40-year-old man was fatally stabbed inside his Bronx apartment late Monday night, police said.
Officers from the 52nd Precinct responded to a 911 call for an unconscious male at 2525 Grand Ave. in the Kingsbridge Heights neighborhood at approximately 11:07 p.m. on April 28.
Upon arrival, officers found Dwayne Valentine, 40, with a stab wound to the chest. Emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene, authorities said.
Valentine lived at the Grand Avenue address, police said.
According to the NYPD, a woman was taken into custody as a person of interest, though no charges had been filed as of Tuesday morning. Valentine’s relationship with the woman was not immediately known.
Police sources said Valentine had been involved in a verbal dispute prior to the stabbing. The investigation is ongoing.
The April 28 homicide marks the first murder in the 52nd Precinct this year, per the latest NYPD data. During the same period in 2024, one murder had been reported.
