A man was arrested in connection to the shooting death of a Bronx deli employee.

According to police, at 11:17 a.m. on Feb. 18, the NYPD responded to a 911 call regarding a person shot inside of a deli located at 3700 White Plains Road. Upon their arrival, officers found 20-year-old Mohammed Qutaish with a gunshot wound to the torso.

Police say that prior to the shooting, Qutaish, who worked at the deli, got into a dispute with a 25-year-old woman. Reports indicate that the dispute was over the woman wanting Qutaish to sell her a loose cigarette, which Qutaish refused, however the NYPD could not confirm this detail with amNewYork Metro. Police say that the woman left and returned with her brother, 28-year-old Adrien Topping, who allegedly shot Qutaish.

EMS rushed Qutaish to Montefiore Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Topping was taken into custody and later charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. The woman was also taken into custody for questioning, however she was arrested on an unrelated drug charge for possessing a crack pipe.
