Brooklyn detectives are looking for the shooter who gunned down a 24-year-old man near a public housing complex early on Monday afternoon.
At this time, police sources did not indicate whether this homicide is connected to the deadly shooting spree in Brooklyn and the Lower East Side between Monday and early Tuesday morning, for which a suspect is now in custody.
Law enforcement sources said Maceo Singleton, 24, of Sterling Place was shot dead in front of an apartment building at the Marcy Houses, located at 546 Flushing Ave., in Bedford-Stuyvesant at about 3:35 p.m. on Dec. 5.
Officers from the 79th Precinct and NYPD PSA 3 found Singleton with a single gunshot wound to his head. Responding EMS units pronounced him dead at the scene.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
The motive for Singleton’s shooting remains unclear, though a source familiar with the case said detectives are looking into a possible connection to gang activity.
Police sources did not have an available description of the shooting suspect. The investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.
