Woman shot dead in Brooklyn home, person of interest in custody

A woman was shot to death in her Brooklyn home early Sunday morning, police said.

At around 2:58 a.m. on May 7, cops responded to a 911 call of a person shot inside 230 East 96th Street, near Clarkson Avenue, in the 67th Precinct. Upon arrival, police found the victim, a 49-year-old woman, with gunshot wounds to her head, torso and leg.

Paramedics rushed the woman to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

A 48-year-old male person of interest was taken into custody on scene, cops said.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the woman’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Less than 24 hours earlier, not far from Sunday’s scene, two men — ages 23 and 24 — were shot in the chest outside 276 Belmont Avenue, near Sutter Avenue in East New York at around 4:30 a.m. on May 6.

Both victims were taken to Brookdale, where the 23-year-old was listed in critical condition as of Sunday night. The 24-year-old is currently stable, cops said.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, cops said.
