Detectives in Brooklyn are investigating a double-shooting early Thursday morning that left a 29-year-old man dead and a 30-year-old man critically injured.
Sources familiar with the investigation stated that police are examining whether the two wounded men had shot each other.
Police said the incident happened at about 5:15 a.m. on Sept. 16 in front of an apartment house at 44 Lewis Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Officers from the 79th Precinct, upon arriving at the scene, found the 29-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds about the body.
Authorities said the 30-year-old man was located nearby, in front of 36 Ditmars St., with a bullet wound to his neck.
EMS rushed the 29-year-old man to Woodhull Hospital, where he died a short time later. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.
The 30-year-old man, meanwhile, remains in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital, police said. He has been placed in police custody, with charges pending.
At this point, detectives have yet to ascertain the circumstances which led up to the shooting. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
