The police have released a photo of a man who allegedly shot three women in front of a storefront church in Far Rockaway last month who were outside a vigil.
The suspect allegedly opened fire after exiting a gray Chevy Malibu at around 9 p.m. on Jan. 17 in front of 14-25 Central Ave. His victims were struck by stray bullets, and it isn’t clear who he was targeting.
The man, according to police, fired off multiple shots hitting two women who were attending the vigil and a woman who was walking down the street. The vigil was being held for Quayshawn Samuel, who was killed on Dec. 29 in an officer-involved shooting at the Ocean Bay apartments complex in Arverne.
The two women who were attending the vigil, ages 26 and 48, were both hit in the leg and were listed in stable condition at the time. The third woman, 46, was struck in the foot while walking on the sidewalk across the street. She too had non life-threatening injuries.
The suspect allegedly got back into the Chevy, where there was a passenger and a get-away driver.
The vehicle was last seen fleeing on Bayport Place. The driver and passenger are also being sought by police, although no images of them have been released.
Police say that shooter is known to frequent the Ocean Bay Houses at 51-32 Beach Channel Dr., where Samuel was killed.
