Police are searching for a man who attempted to rape a 23-year-old female in lower Manhattan on Sunday.
According to investigators, the perp cornered the woman inside her apartment building near 11th Street and 3rd Avenue, before pushing her into her place of residence and attempting to sexually assault her.
The man then stole the victim’s wallet and ran off.
Investigators have released surveillance video purportedly showing the man inside a bodega, wearing a beige hat, white shirt, black shorts and blue sneakers.
Citywide, there have been 851 reported rapes so far this year, which is an increase from the same timeframe in 2021, when the NYPD recorded 760 incidents of rape.
