Police are investigating after a woman was found dead packed in a bag inside a Kips Bay apartment building on Thursday, police and sources familiar with the investigation said.
According to authorities, cops were performing a wellness check inside 206 East 31st at around 4:29 p.m. at the behest of concerned family members when they discovered 52-year-old Nadia Vitel dead inside her 19th-floor apartment. Police have not publicly ruled what killed the woman, stating that the medical examiner will make the official ruling.
However, sources familiar with the matter told amNewYork Metro that Vitel was discovered packaged in a duffel bag. Her remains were said to be intact with her entire body being found in the bag.

Crime scene investigators and detectives could be seen hurriedly entering and exiting the building well into the early hours of Friday as they worked to collect evidence.
