Two suspects are at large for beating a man unconscious with a bike lock in the Flatiron District on Friday night, police reported.
According to police sources, a 36-year-old man got into an argument with two unknown men outside of Home Depot located 23rd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues at around 7:58 p.m. on March 8 when he was bashed in the head with a bike lock.
“I saw him getting stretchered away,” a dog walker said, who did not provide his name. “He had a bad head wound.”
Police and eyewitnesses say the man was beaten so severely that he fell unconscious, but managed to come back around while in the ambulance. EMS rushed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
Cops said the perpetrators, one of whom was wearing all black clothing, fled eastbound on 23rd Street on a bike. So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
