What began as an argument at a Midtown parking garage on Tuesday night ended with the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old man, police said.
Law enforcement sources said the murder happened at about 11:09 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the garage located at 350 West 42nd St., beneath The Orion high-rise condominium and a block away from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Officers from the Midtown South Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about an assault at the location, found the victim with a stab wound to his torso.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police learned that the victim had been embroiled in a verbal dispute with an unidentified male attacker. The words eventually turned violent, police said, when the attacker pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the man’s chest.
EMS rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, authorities said.
