A 34-year-old man was shot in the face after a dispute on the Lower East Side of Manhattan Thursday night, according to police.
At approximately 9:36 pm, officers from the 5th Precinct responded to a report of shots fired within the Alfred Smith Houses property at 15 St. James Place.
Arriving on the scene, the officers discovered that a man had been shot after an altercation. The bullet grazed the victim’s mouth, leaving him wounded.
Cops said he was later transported by private means to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital and listed in stable condition.
Police taped off the area and canvassed the walkways surrounding the New York City Housing complex for bullet casings. Additionally, NYPD cruisers could be observed circling the Two Bridges district for nearly two hours after the shots were discharged.
Law enforcement sources described the shooter as a Black man in his 30s wearing dark clothing, who was last seen fleeing on foot.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
