Manhattan detectives are looking for the violent brute in Hamilton Heights who smacked a man’s head with a baseball bat in a brazen attack caught on camera.
Police released video footage Saturday night of the broad daylight beating, which occurred at about 8:06 a.m. on the morning of Nov. 29 in front of a Chinese restaurant at 1770 Amsterdam Ave.
As shown in the video, the suspect stalked the 47-year-old male victim as the individual walked along the sidewalk.
Within seconds, the brute pulled out an orange baseball bat that he concealed inside his pants, then strode up to the victim and took a swing. He smacked the pedestrian in the head, knocking him to the ground.
The footage shows the suspect initially walking away from the fallen victim — but within seconds, he turned around and taunted the injured man, adding insult to injury.
Following the verbal and physical assault, law enforcement sources said, the brute fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The incident was reported to the 30th Precinct. EMS brought the victim to Harlem Hospital in stable condition for treatment of a head laceration and bruising.
Police described the victim’s attacker as a man with a light complexion who wore a black Nike hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and black sneakers.
