Detectives on Staten Island are looking for the shooter who killed a 26-year-old man on Monday afternoon.
Michael Evans, 26, of Jamie Court was gunned down at about 3:14 p.m. on May 9 near the corner of Beach Street and Union Place — steps away from a school for autistic children — in Stapleton.
According to the Staten Island Advance, Evans was the first victim of a fatal shooting on the island this year.
Officers from the 120th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about shots fired, found Evans at the location with a bullet wound to his chest.
EMS rushed him to Richmond University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
