Police in Manhattan are looking for two thieves who beat up a Duane Reade employee who recently tried to stop them from stealing candy from the establishment.
According to the investigation, the men walked into the store at 17 John St. in the Financial District on Dec. 23, 2023, before grabbing 20 bags of Haribo candy and attempting to walk out at around 3:15 p.m.
When a store employee intervened, the men punched the 40-year-old worker in the head several times, according to police.
The suspects then fled the store and got on the train at the Fulton Street subway station.
EMS responded to the incident and treated the man for his injuries at the scene. The incident was reported to the 1st Precinct.
No arrests have yet been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
