An apartment fire on the Upper West Side early on Thursday morning left one woman dead and another victim fighting for her life, police reported.

Law enforcement sources said the blaze broke out at 175 West 73rd St., between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues, just before 3:14 a.m. on March 13.

Officers from the 20th Precinct and multiple Fire Department units responded to the reported one-alarm fire inside the residence.

During the investigation, firefighters pulled two women from the home — ages 41 and 77 — both of whom suffered from burns and smoke inhalation.

EMS rushed the 41-year-old woman to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Police have not yet released her identity, pending family notification.

The 77-year-old woman, meanwhile, was rushed by EMS to NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition. 

Firefighters brought the blaze under control at about 4 a.m., according to published reports. FDNY marshals are now investigating its cause.
