A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest in Brooklyn Tuesday night, according to police.
The victim was shot near the corner of 56th Street and 7th Avenue in Sunset Park at around 9:45 p.m., police said. Cops were alerted to the shooting via their ShotSpotter system, which has sensors that pick up the sounds of gunshots and notifies the NYPD.
The 26-year-old was taken by private means to NYC Health and Hospitals/ Bellevue where he was pronounced dead. There have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
The identify of the victim has not been released, pending family notification.
