Talk about a book tour
The Westbeth Center for the Arts, in conjunction with the PEN International Festival, held a “Literary Safari” last Thursday evening, during which 21 writers from around the world did readings in 21 different apartments in the sprawling, 343-unit artists complex, at Bethune and Washington Sts. Maps in hand, participants each visited up to four different apartments to hear readings during the two-hour event. Above, award-winning author Jonas Hassen, son of a Tunisian father and Swedish mother, read from a short story of his about racial tensions between Swedes and immigrants.
