Finally, New Yorkers can experience all the nostalgia, whimsy and artistry of balloon sculpture, no creepy clown interaction required! Explore multiple themed and family-friendly exhibit rooms containing everything from the classic balloon dog, to the Eiffel Tower and depictions of the moon landing. Take a journey through the city’s iconic Park Avenue Armory building and these larger-than-life infatuating inflatables this summer only.
Balloon Story New York is a limited-time wonderland that brings your favorite balloon animals and sculptures to you on an enormous scale. From now until August 24, escape the heat with this immersive art experience on the Upper East Side.
From the jungle with a kid-friendly ball pit to the hall of global monuments and icons, you do not have to be young to be mesmerized by these balloons. You can get lost in the air-filled maze, snap a selfie with Lady Liberty, and go for an inflatable swim under the sea with these hyper-realistic creations. And no, while you cannot taste the giant ice cream cone or taco, there are food and beverages for sale in the snack-themed cafeteria.
More than 600,000 eco-friendly and biodegradable balloons and other materials were installed over 10 days to create this whimsical experience. Tamir Lavie, one of the balloon artists, describes the exhibits as “truly art, just with another platform, another material.” Each balloon and sculpture is hand-tied and assembled by the many artists that Art Director Kobi Kalimian chose for this first-of-its-kind event.
“At every party you have balloons… balloons are happiness and part of the celebration,” said Lavie.
The exhibition intends to go out with a bang in late August. A special party will be held on Balloon Story’s last day where visitors will be invited to pop the countless balloons that make up these eye-catching creatures and creations. You can even receive your own, regular-sized balloon animal or sculpture with a VIP ticket.
Tickets are available seven days a week and can be purchased through Balloon Story’s website.
