Detectives cuffed the alleged hitman Thursday who allegedly dressed up like an Orthodox Jewish man to execute a rival in Queens nearly two years ago, police reported.
Ron Reeder, 53, of New Jersey was pinched for the shocking crime that left 46-year-old Jermaine Dixon dead back in September of 2021. Dixon, who hailed from Georgia, was shot dead in the rear of 132-10 South Conduit Ave. in South Ozone Park.
According to police sources, Reeder was a hired hitman who wore garb typically worn by Orthodox Jewish men to disguise himself as he targeted Dixon, who was a known member of a Brooklyn gang. At the time, Dixon had been out of federal prison less than a year before he was slain.
Dixon suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head; police said Reeder allegedly fled in a white Nissan sedan. EMS pronounced Dixon dead at the scene.
Sources familiar with the investigation say the killer was nabbed after being on the lam for more than two years after the Bergen County district attorney’s office released info details surrounding the incident.
Reeder hung his head low as detectives escorted him out of the 106th Precinct stationhouse in Ozone Park, Queens, on Thursday afternoon, March 2; he remained silent as the press peppered him with questions.
Reeder is charged with murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm.
