The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force needs the public’s help in locating an antisemitic bigot who verbally harassed a senior on the Upper East Side last month, then spat in his face, authorities said.

According to police sources, the disturbing incident unfolded at around 4:10 p.m. on July 27 as a 65-year-old man was walking along 5th Avenue and East 68th Street.

Cops say the unidentified bigot accosted the senior and began hurling antisemitic remarks. He then escalated the confrontation further when he pulled the victim’s face mask down and spat in his face.

Law enforcement sources said the suspect fled on foot toward Madison Avenue.

The incident was initially reported to the 19th Precinct. The victim did not suffer any injuries as a result of the incident.

The perpetrator is described last seen wearing black pants, a black hat and a multicolored shirt.

According to police statistics, hate crimes against the Jewish community have sharply risen over the last year. From July to August alone, hate crimes have risen by 200%, with 30 instances taking place in that 30-day period compared to just 10 the same time last year.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the perpetrator’s whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA).
