A 6-year-old boy with autism was found safe in Brooklyn Monday after he was kidnapped by his baby-sitter over the weekend, a law enforcement source said.
The baby-sitter, 37-year-old Emmanuel Kolajo, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
He and the boy, identified as Devin Monroe, were found in Crown Heights Monday, just hours after the NYPD released their images.
Monroe’s 38-year-old mother had left him with Kolajo, who police said is her friend, in Bed-Stuy at about 6 a.m. Saturday, police said. She also left Kolajo with her car, a black 2002 Hyundai Elantra.
The woman told police she was in Pennsylvania for the day, and when she returned Saturday night to pick up her son, Kolajo suggested she come back in the morning because the boy was sleeping, police said. But on Sunday morning, Devin, Kolajo and her car were missing.
The boy was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull on Monday for evaluation, but was in good condition, police said.
