Police have arrested a Bronx man who robbed a 10-year-old girl by throwing her to the ground and kicking her in the face, according to the NYPD.
Marcos Lazaro, 39, is accused of following the girl, who had her iPhone 7 Plus in her hand, into her apartment building near Holland Avenue and Pelham Parkway North around 5 p.m. on May 25.
Police said Lazaro grabbed the girl’s phone out of her hand as she walked through the door in the building’s vestibule, threw her to the ground and kicked her in the face, breaking her glasses, before he ran off.
The unnamed victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with a swollen lip.
Police released surveillance video and images of the girl’s attacker on Sunday, and Lazaro was arrested on Tuesday, according to the NYPD. He’s charged with second-degree robbery and assault causing an injury to a person under 11 years old.
