Bronx detectives are investigating a deadly shooting early on Thursday morning that claimed a man’s life.

Police said the homicide happened at the corner of East 175th Street and Monroe Avenue in Mount Hope at about 2:27 a.m. on Dec. 19.

Officers from the 46th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about the incident, found the unidentified male victim with a gunshot wound to his torso.

EMS rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police have not yet disclosed his identity, as no identification was found in the man’s possession, according to police sources.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown and under investigation. Police recovered a firearm from the crime scene, though it is unclear whether that was the weapon used to fire the fatal shot, law enforcement sources said. Footage on the Citizen app showed what appeared to be a rifle, possibly with a suppressor, lying on the pavement.
