A Bronx man is recovering after being shot during an apparent home invasion attempt on Tuesday night, authorities said.

Police sources said the victim, a 52-year-old man, was inside his apartment within the Mott Haven Houses, at 383 141st St., at about 9 p.m. on Aug. 27 when he heard a knock on the front door.

Seconds later, law enforcement sources said, the victim opened the door to find two masked men who attempted to push their way inside.

The victim fought back, police said, shoving his assailants back into the hallway. During the chaos, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking the victim in the left leg.

Following the gunshot, the shooters fled the building, authorities said.

Officers from the 40th Precinct responded to the incident and found the wounded man, who police say is known to the department. EMS rushed him to Lincoln Hospital, where he is expected to survive his wound.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing. Police described the gunmen as wearing black masks and blue jeans.
