According to police sources, the broad daylight shooting occurred at 3:40 p.m. on April 7 along East 176th Street and Belmont Avenue in East Tremont.

That’s where a gunman approached a 41-year-old man from behind and opened fire, police reported. The victim was struck in the back of the head and the left armpit.

Following the gun violence, law enforcement sources said, the perpetrator fled on foot westbound along East 176th Street.

Officers from the 48th Precinct rushed to the scene and discovered the wounded man on the ground. EMS rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
