A Bronx woman was found dead after an apparent domestic dispute inside a public housing complex early Monday morning, police said.
At approximately 3:39 a.m. on March 25, officers from the 40th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a person in need of assistance inside the John Adams Houses at 720 Westchester Ave. in Woodstock.
When cops arrived, officers found a 46-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive, sustaining injuries to the face and head.
EMS responded to the call and pronounced the victim dead at the scene, authorities said. Police are withholding the woman’s identity pending family notification.
Although a motive is not clear right now, police say a domestic incident led to the woman’s death. No weapons were recovered at the scene, but according to police sources, one person who knew the victim is in custody being questioned in connection with the woman’s death.
Charges against that individual are pending the results of the ongoing investigation, law enforcement sources said.
