Tragedy struck a Brooklyn home on Friday morning when a mother and her two children were killed in a fast-moving fire, it was reported.
The Fire Department is now investigating what caused the deadly blaze, which broke out at about 5:05 a.m. on April 28 inside a third-floor apartment at 587 Gates Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
It didn’t take long for responding firefighters to quench the all-hands fire — the FDNY tweeted that it was brought under control 40 minutes later, at 5:45 a.m. — but during and after the blaze, first responders located the three victims: a 40-year-old woman and her two daughters, ages 8 and 10.

All three victims were rushed by EMS to Woodhull Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Police have withheld their identities, pending family notification.
Meanwhile, three other individuals suffered minor injuries during the blaze and were treated, according to WABC-TV.
Both Mayor Eric Adams and Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh visited the scene Friday morning. Hizzoner lamented the horrific incident and mourned for the community.
